MCP

How external execution clients connect to Topoo context and permissioned capabilities.

Model Context Protocol (MCP) is the planned capability boundary between Topoo and external execution clients such as Codex, Claude, and compatible editors.

MCP does not replace the Topoo product model. It exposes permissioned operations over the same Workspace, Project, Node, Agent, Submission, Release, and Deployment objects.

Target connection flow

Install or enable the Topoo connection
→ authorize the Topoo account in a browser
→ select or resolve the Workspace
→ resolve Project and Node from the repository and working directory
→ issue a scoped Session Grant
→ load the minimum Node Context Pack
→ expose only the allowed tools

The user should configure the account connection once. A new external Session may then begin from the task instead of asking the user to repeat the repository, Project, Node, Agent prompt, Checks, and deployment policy.

MCP capability groups

The planned server groups capabilities by authority:

  • read Project and Node context
  • inspect Source Bindings and the pinned Base Revision
  • save Checkpoints and create Submissions
  • run configured Checks
  • request or inspect Preview
  • inspect Release and Deployment evidence
  • request promotion or rollback when a separate approval policy allows it

Installing or authenticating the connection does not grant Production authority.

Security boundary

  • Use browser-based OAuth for the primary remote connection.
  • Use short-lived, revocable Session Grants for task execution.
  • Keep Production approval scoped to one exact accepted Release Artifact Set.
  • Never paste long-lived API keys into prompts or repository manifests.
  • Record the external Session, Agent identity, Node, Base Revision, allowed actions, and resulting evidence.

Current availability

The Remote MCP endpoint, OAuth client, installable Topoo integration, and automatic Project and Node resolution are target capabilities. No public server URL, copy-paste client configuration, or completed production flow should be published until those values are verified against the running control plane.

See Deployment Configuration and Interaction for the corresponding Topoo Cloud placement.
