About

What Topoo is, why it exists, and how its product surfaces fit together.

Topoo is the board that holds the product-level framing above any single work surface.

It exists so the rest of the documentation does not start in the middle of implementation. Before reading toAgent, toWork, toProject, toMemory, or TopooUI, a reader should be able to answer:

  • what Topoo is trying to make possible
  • why the product is split into separate boards
  • which decisions belong to shared system framing
  • which decisions belong to board-specific solutions

Product thesis

Topoo is a desktop operating environment for agent-led work.

It is not just a chat product, not just a document tool, and not just a project tracker. It is a coordinated system where:

  • toAgent handles conversation, orchestration, and execution requests
  • toWork handles document surfaces, artifacts, and publishable outputs
  • toProject handles durable project structure, execution containers, and operating models
  • toMemory handles recall, schema views, persistence, and retrieval
  • TopooUI holds the shared interface language and documentation primitives used by all boards

Each board exists because the system is too large and too semantically different to explain from a single surface.

Why the system is split into boards

The split is intentional.

Without board boundaries, the product drifts into mixed semantics:

  • chat starts carrying document meaning
  • documents start behaving like projects
  • project views start absorbing runtime and memory concerns
  • shared UI primitives get confused with feature-specific behavior

Boards keep the system readable.

They allow each lane to answer one class of questions well, without forcing every page to carry the whole product model.

Shared versus board-specific thinking

Some ideas should remain stable across the whole product:

  • the product is agent-led
  • structure matters more than isolated UI polish
  • surfaces must stay explicit about what they own
  • reusable UI language belongs in TopooUI, not scattered across product boards
  • documentation must preserve reasoning, not just implementation snapshots

Other ideas only make sense inside a specific board:

  • toAgent interaction rules
  • toWork publishing flows
  • toProject object semantics and execution layers
  • toMemory retrieval and schema presentation

This distinction is one of the main jobs of the documentation system.

Reading model

The recommended way to read the system is:

  1. Start with Topoo for product framing.
  2. Enter one board for the solution lane you care about.
  3. Use TopooUI for shared UI rules, docs primitives, and reusable system language.

That order matters.

If readers begin with implementation details before understanding the board split, the documentation becomes mechanically organized but conceptually weak.

What this board should contain

The Topoo section should hold:

  • product definition and principles
  • board positioning
  • system-level principles
  • system configuration, MCP, and API boundaries
  • cross-board reading guidance
  • future product-level contracts that sit above any one board

It should not become a dumping ground for detailed implementation.

Detailed architecture belongs in the board that owns it.
